What happens to my state pension?

General Rules
EU / EFTA countries & countries that have concluded a social security agreement with Switzerland
Your OASI contributions are administered by the Swiss Compensation Office in Geneva until retirement. On reaching the age of retirement, you are entitled to receive your benefit payment abroad. The OASI pays out your benefit in local currency to a Swiss bank account or a bank of your choice in your new country of residence. The OASI pension fund assets cannot be paid out in a lump sum.
All other Countries – i.e. No social security agreement in place
You lose your right to a monthly pension but you may be entitled to a refund of your OASI contributions.

How to proceed?
Step 1 - Inform your local municipal office of your pending departure
Go to your municipal office and tell them that you are leaving Switzerland. The municipal office will provide you with a confirmation document.
Step 2 - Notify the OASI administration office
Notify your current AHV administration office of your pending departure:
This office will transfer your file to the Swiss Compensation Office in Geneva
The office in Geneva will take care of the payment of your pension (if you are entitled to benefit)
The OASI transfer your pension benefit to your preferred payment address in your local currency
Step 3 - Register as residents at the municipal office of your future place of residence
From this point on, you are subject to tax at your new domicile.
